I honestly can’t remember the last time I read a book in that style. It is not limited to a single character’s perspective. It took me a few pages or even a whole chapter to realize that it’s written in third person omniscient, so the narrator (and thus, the reader) has knowledge of all times, people, places, and events. My initial thought was that the writing was super weird. It is definitely suspenseful and slightly gripping. Well…I can’t be sure how BOTM actually described it, since it was so long ago, but I can tell you that I would not characterize Leave the World Behind as a thriller. I remember its description being interesting and dark.
